I love to share my love of weaving one-to-one or with group weaving workshops and classes in my custom-built Colourbothy Weaving studio in Hirn in Deeside, Aberdeenshire in north east Scotland. The studio is quiet in a rural area and well equipped.
Tuition is offered in the studio and online: as weekly scheduled classes, scheduled group workshops, or bespoke workshops tailored to your or your groups's interests and dates.
If you are interested in learning to weave, developing your weaving knowledge and skills, or have questions do please get in touch.
Scheduled Classes and Workshops
From time to time I offer weekly classes and multi day workshops on specific dates. Currently scheduled classes and workshops can be booked here.
Bespoke Weaving Spaces
We organise Weaving Spaces, custom designed, tailored days or half days to suit you, either on your own or as a group. These sessions are suitable for all weavers, from complete beginners to advanced, using Colourbothy Studio equipment or your own.
They are suitable for new weavers wanting to try a new craft and for weavers looking to learn something new or refresh their knowledge. They introduce you to the craft of handweaving, giving an opportunity to try out a new skill in a quiet setting.
Established weavers can focus on a particular topic, perhaps a new-to-you weave structure, how to plan a special project, set up a loom, use colour or texture or simply sit down and weave on one of our studio looms. If you have been weaving for a while and would like to review your work and discuss development, or refresh your knowledge, a one-to-one Weaving Space is for you too.
Before setting up bespoke sessions we will discuss in detail exactly what you wish to study and suitable dates.
Students may arrange morning, afternoon or evening sessions, or a combination. Beginners will benefit from full day sessions. Why not get in touch to discuss dates, or book a day for yourself or as a gift for a friend or family member?
Learn to Weave Online
Highly focussed bespoke, usually one-to-one sessions primarily for experienced weavers wishing to study a specific area. They are especially suited to those studying digital design using computer weaving software such as Proweave or Photoshop for designing for jacquard looms.
These can help you discover another approach, weaving style or technique.
Tuition is give through a combination of written information, telephone, Skype/ Facetime/Zoom contact, and where weaving software is involved, with computer screen sharing.
